Morning newspaper news(reporter Wu Chutong,photographer Li Guodong)Appointed and supported by Holland's Frysland provincial government,two dutch college students Sander Ansems and Johan Roos who driving a car that only use sunflower oil as fuel arrived in Chengdu yesterday(27th.),officials from Sichuan government and many members from Chengdu jeep (4wd) fans club meeted the two friendly visiters at the exit of the express highway.The two dutch bring a letter from Frysland to Sichuan province and they visited Chengdu especially to start the 5th. aniversery of the friendship eastablishment between Frysland and Sichuan provinces ,meanwhile they make the public know environment protection and saving energy.They are very satisfied with their sunflower oil,"If there is a supermarket,we can drive!"
Tour China by driving their own jeep,especially visiting Chengdu 11:00 am this morning,Sander Ansems and Johan Roos who driving a second hand land rover jeep(made in 1992) left Chengguan Expresshighway,you can see clearly"own eyes experience" on the head of the car.From starting their tour at Frysland,they have drived 27000 kilometers. On Jan 3 this year,the two dutch college students started from Frysland,across Italy,Turkey,Iran,Wuzbiekstan,Hasakstan,entered China by Huoerguos pass,start their 8 weeks' China journey.After entering China,they drived through Ulumuqi,Turpan,Hami,Dunhuang,Wuwei, Lanzhou,Xiahe,Jiuzhaigou,then finally arrived at Chengdu. Using plant oil,it's cheaper except acting as a friendship messenger,they have another mission,it is to let the public know .environment protection and saving energy."We spent 3000 Euros to renovate this jeep,it uses sunflower oil as fuel."After they drive a circle,the audience smell a kitchen smell,but didn't see the air from the exhaust pipe,"It's environment protection,right?"Using sunflower oil as fuel ,it's price is only half of diesel oil,but with much less pollution."Johan Roos smiled and said"Many cars have used sunflower oil as fuel in Germany and Sweden.All the plant oils in supermarket can be used as fuel so you don't worry we will use up our oil." After their journey in Chengdu,they will go to Xi'an, Datong and arrive in Beijing finally.
